Wax loses it in West End

First Published 8 July 2011, Last Updated 8 July 2011

Ruby Wax is to bring her hit show Losing It into the West End this summer following a run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The show, which has already enjoyed two runs at the Menier Chocolate Factory, will play at the Duchess theatre from 31 August to 1 October.

Losing It teams comedienne Wax with singer-songwriter Judith Owen, who provides a musical soundtrack to Wax’s funny, sometimes dark and always sharply observed thoughts on mental illness. Discussing the toxins of our time – envy, fame, the drive to win and the desire to have a perfect life – Wax takes an acerbic and honest look at the ups and downs of mental illness, which both she and Owen have suffered from.

Thea Sharrock’s production premiered at the Menier Chocolate Factory early this year, before returning in May for an additional run. Its West End transfer comes following a stay in Edinburgh from 5 to 29 August.

Losing It plays at the Duchess theatre following Butley, which ends on 27 August, and before The Pitmen Painters, which opens on 5 October.
