War Horse visits the Olympic Park

War Horse entertains Olympic crowds

Team GB’s equestrian steeds were not the only British award-winning horses at the Olympics earlier this week, when War Horse’s Joey paid a visit to Park Live.

The famous four legged star of the acclaimed stage show galloped over to the Olympics to lend the fully whinnying force of his support to the athletes taking part and to salute the gathered crowds enjoying London during the Games.

The incredible puppet, along with cast member Alex Avery, then did what all visitors to the Olympics should do and hoofed it back to the West End for a performance. While he performs on stage at the New London theatre, there are a host of fantastic shows being staged in London’s famous theatres this summer, offering something for everyone.

War Horse, which premiered at the National Theatre in 2007, is the stage adaptation of a Michael Morpurgo book telling the story of a young boy whose horse is sold to the army as it embarks for France to fight the First World War. Fearing for his equine friend, the boy enlists, hoping to be reunited with the foal he raised to be a horse.

The show proved so successful that it was revived at the National Theatre in 2008 before transferring to the West End in 2009, where it has entertained audiences ever since.

War Horse is just one of the many amazing shows currently being sold at the TKTS ticket booth in Leicester Square. You can see what else is on sale here before heading over to the booth to pick up a bargain.
