Video: Oliviers 2017 nominees react

Published 16 March 2017

When the news filters through that you’ve joined an esteemed select of theatrical talent, and are now an Olivier Award with Mastercard nominee, the ensuing rush of euphoria rush must bring about a grin as wide as a proscenium arch – before, at least in the case of Anthony Boyle, acquiescing to an urgent need to phone Mum and Dad, and share the great news.

Affording them plenty of time to compose themselves (and keep loved ones informed), we spoke to this year’s brilliantly talented bunch a few days after the nominations were announced, at the annual Olivier Awards with Mastercard nominees’ celebration, finding out more about their first reactions to the incredible news.

The event saw the lucky attendees gather for a casual lunchtime affair to mingle with one another, enjoy some light refreshments, and mark their extraordinary achievements in theatre over the past year, ahead of the main ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday 9 April.

You can keep up to date with all the Olivier Awards news between now and the grand occasion on Official London Theatre, and by following us on Twitter and Facebook. You can also follow the Oliviers’ own Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts.
