The birth of the theatrical trailer has been one of our favourite additions to theatre in the past few years, but never more so than when it features a bonafide Oscar-winning actor. Yep, that’s right, we can only be talking about one of the most anticipated shows of the year, Photograph 51 starring the staggeringly talented Nicole Kidman.

The DNA drama has released a teaser trailer ahead of its arrival in the West End from 5 September and, while it may only be a mere 38 seconds long, it had us entranced.

Maybe it’s the steady but ominous heartbeat, the mysterious opening line “The instant I saw the picture, my mouth fell open and my heart began to pace” or just the hazy reveal of one of Hollywood’s most in demand actors, but it certainly got our attention.

Whether this play will secure Kidman’s place in theatrical history, reflecting the place in history secured by Rosalind Franklin, the character Kidman plays in the Michael Grandage-directed production, is yet to be seen. But we’re pretty sure it’s worth booking a ticket now to find out.

Photograph 51 plays at the Noël Coward Theatre from 5 September to 21 November. Book tickets here now.
