Theatre Royal Stratford East is home to the sassy and satirical musical, The Bubbly Black Girl Sheds Her Chameleon Skin. The production looks at how women have been defined by others and themselves throughout the 1960s – 1990s with an original score of jazz, pop, Motown and lots of R&B.

The life-affirming and funny coming-of-age story follows Viveca, a bright girl from a black middle class family in LA, who dreams of becoming a dancer. When we were given the opportunity to sneak into rehearsal and catch a glimpse of the musical, we just couldn’t resist.

Watch the video above to see Granny’s Advice, just one of the catchy musical numbers from the show.

The Bubbly Black Girl Sheds Her Chameleon Skin is participating in Get Into London Theatre. Purchase tickets through this promotion for dates up until 10 February. For further dates and more information visit the venues official website
