Video: Beverley Knight sings Cats’ Memory

First Published 31 July 2015, Last Updated 31 July 2015

It’s been months since we’ve heard the hits from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s iconic musical Cats performed on the London stage. Some who are struggling for a Cats-inspired pun may say that it seems like a distant Memory.

But that’s all about to change, as Beverley Knight tackles the TS Eliot-inspired hit’s most legendary tune for the first time.

The soul singer turned West End performer has already wowed London audiences with her powerful musical performances in productions of The Bodyguard and Memphis The Musical, but that hasn’t stopped our minds – or should that be ears? – being metaphorically blown as she hits the high notes in Lloyd Webber’s infamous Memory.

Knight follows in the… err… paw prints… of Olivier Award nominated Nicole Scherzinger and former Wicked star Kerry Ellis to play Grizabella, an experience she describes as both “challenging” and “an absolute joy”.

Take a look at the video above to see and, of course, hear more of what you can expect from Knight and discover why taking to the stage of the London Palladium in October means a double whammy for the Olivier Award nominee.
