Unicorn welcomes promenade Legend

First Published 22 August 2012, Last Updated 22 August 2012

Next month, the Unicorn theatre will present The Legend Of Woesterdam, an outdoor family production that takes audiences on a theatrical journey around Mitcham Common.

Conceived by internationally acclaimed company Studio Orka, The Legend Of Woesterdam will play from 21 to 23 September.

Suitable for children aged eight and over, the family show is set in a city that has lost the ability to love and become the bleakest place in the world. But a man called Henk has taken a stand and the Woesterdam gang, armed only with clenched buttocks, the love meter and the sadness sieve, is ready to fight a world of painful silence and violent rage.

Presenting its work in partnership with the Unicorn theatre for the first time, Studio Orka is a group of Belgian designers and actors who make unique and touching site-specific shows in unusual locations.

The Legend Of Woesterdam will take place on Mitcham Common following the beginning of Artistic Director Purni Morell’s second season at the London Bridge venue, which kicks off with a unique adaptation of Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale from 19 September.
