Last night, over 100 venues across the UK came together to highlight the industry’s crisis as part of the #WeMakeEvents Red Light Alert Day.

With various pantos being cancelled for this year as well as the millions of professional at risk of losing their jobs, 70% of which are freelance the event urges the government to provide urgent support, especially with the closure of the self-employed income support scheme at the end of the month which threatens the livelihood of so many.

The event began on a boat at 8:30pm and travelled across the Thames passing the Royal Festival Hall, The National Theatre and the Tate, plus more all illuminated red. When reaching key locations such as the Westminster Bridge and Jubilee Bridge, hundreds of industry creatives and volunteers cast red lights as they stand in support.

Here’s a roundup of some of the venues across the UK who shone their lights red in solidarity of the arts industry.
