UK Theatre Awards 2018 nominations announced

Published 14 September 2018

The list of nominees has been announced for this year’s UK Theatre Awards, the only nationwide awards to honour and celebrate outstanding achievements in theatre throughout England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

London theatregoers will be particularly interested to see that the National Theatre‘s Home, I’m Darling, a co-production with Theatr Clywd, is in contention for the Best New Play Award, having earlier this month completed a run at the venue.

The Young Vic is also represented: Seiriol Davies’ star turn in How To Win Against History – a Young Vic co-production – was nominated for Best Performance in a Musical, while Gemma Dobson received a nod for Best Supporting Performance for Rita, Sue And Bob Too, seen in London with the show being a Royal Court co-production.

And the team at The Old Vic was recognised with a nod for the award in Achievement in Marketing/Audience Development.

Julian Bird, Chief Executive of UK Theatre, said, “It has been been a fascinating year for theatre, with a thrilling array of performances and works presented across the UK – as well as many new initiatives to create positive change in the industry, both on- and off-stage. We look forward to celebrating those individuals and companies who have pushed boundaries, started conversations and made incredible theatre.”

The public vote for The UK’s Most Welcoming Theatre Award with Theatre Tokens will close at 12 noon on Tuesday 19 September. For more information click here.

The Awards will be presented on Sunday 14 October at a lunchtime ceremony at London’s Guildhall.
