tkts wins outstanding service award

tkts, the iconic ticket booth run by the Society of London Theatre (SOLT), was this week recognised with an award for its high levels of customer service.

The ticket outlet, which prides itself on the knowledge and helpfulness of its staff, shared the Society of Box Office Managers (SOBOM) award for Outstanding Customer Service with the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre as the SOBOM members, who vote to choose the winners, could not split the two ticket selling hubs apart.

Speaking about the award, Jane Drakesmith, SOLT’s Head of Sales and Ticketing, commented: “We are very pleased and extremely proud that tkts was recognised for its outstanding customer service at the annual Society of Box Office Managers’ award ceremony at Sadler’s Wells on 5 March.”

tkts, which opened in Leicester Square in 1980, when it was known as the Half Price Ticket Booth, is best known for its discounted on-the-day tickets, but also sells tickets up to a week in advance, many at reduced prices.

Its award-winning level of service sets it apart from the many other ticket agents selling on the streets around London, as does the fact that all profits made by tkts are pumped straight back into a range of important activities within the theatre industry.
