TKTS launches West End Wednesdays

First Published 26 June 2014, Last Updated 26 June 2014

TKTS, our theatre ticket booth in Leicester Square, will return to its roots in July by offering half price tickets for selected shows every Wednesday.

The West End Wednesdays promotion, which runs every Wednesday in July, will offer half price tickets to performances that day of 10 of London’s favourite shows.

The shows taking part offer enough variety to please every taste. Musical fans can choose from The Commitments, Let It Be, Once and The Pajama Game, while those fancying a laugh can giggle at The 39 Steps or Jeeves And Wooster In Perfect Nonsense. Drama fans can indulge their passion with Bakersfield Mist and Daytona, and anyone fancying a spooky night out can pick up tickets for Ghost Stories or The Woman In Black.

Speaking about the promotion, Emma De Souza, Head of Media and Marketing for the Society of London Theatre (SOLT), which runs TKTS, said: “The idea to launch a new promotion was to introduce new theatre audiences to TKTS and its history, to get them visiting the booth and seeing the benefits of buying your theatre tickets in person from our experienced staff.”

TKTS opened in 1980, when it was known as the Official Half Price Ticket Booth. In its 30 years of serving the theatregoing public, its name has changed and its offers have expanded, though it has remained committed to offering theatregoers the finest and most knowledgeable service around. In both 2012 and 2013 it won the STAR/Society of Box Office Managers Outstanding Customer Service Award.

As TKTS is run by SOLT, the organisation that represents the producers, theatre owners and managers of London’s major commercial and grant-aided theatres, and also runs this website, all profits made at the booth are funnelled back into the industry, supporting audience development initiatives, supporting new producers and offering assistance to emerging actors.
