Theatre industry issues statement on referendum

First Published 27 June 2016, Last Updated 1 July 2016

In light of the results of the EU referendum, the Society of London Theatre (SOLT) and UK Theatre Association have issued a statement expressing concerns about the impact of the changes on the UK theatre industry.

The article highlights the involvement of SOLT and UK Theatre in the Performing Arts League of Europe (PEARLE), and their role in lobbying and negotiating on EU legislation. Both organisations will continue to work with PEARLE in the coming months to discuss future employment law, the movement of artists and creatives between countries and the future for organisations and artists that currently receive European funding.

The statement stresses that the creative industry should be taken into account as regulations and laws are amended in the coming months, so that the UK theatre industry continues to thrive.

The statement can be read in full on the SOLT website here.
