The Play That keeps going Wrong

Olivier Award-winning comedy The Play That Goes Wrong has once again gone very right, adding six months to its current London booking period and extending to 26 February 2017.

Tickets for the new booking period are already on sale.

The frantically silly farcical hit, which has been playing at the West End’s Duchess Theatre since September 2014, tells the story of the Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society’s attempts to stage a 1920s murder mystery. As the title hints, nothing about the production runs smoothly as the performers battle to reach the final curtain.

The show, which won the Best New Comedy prize at the Olivier Awards 2015 with MasterCard, started life at the Old Red Lion pub. Such was its popularity that it transferred to the intimate West End theatre Trafalgar Studio 2 before embarking on a national tour and returning triumphantly to the London stage in September 2014.

The team behind The Play That Goes Wrong, Mischief Theatre, will also bring a new show to London in 2016. The Comedy About A Bank Robbery, which runs at the Criterion Theatre from 31 March, follows eight incompetent crooks as they attempt to get their paws on one enormous diamond.
