The Giraffe And The Pelly clean up at Little Angel

Little Angel theatre will delve into the imaginative world of children’s author Roald Dahl for its festive show this year, a musical adaptation of Dahl’s book The Giraffe And The Pelly And Me.

Dahl’s story follows the adventures of a young boy, Billy, who befriends a giraffe, a pelican and a monkey and with them forms the Ladderless Window Cleaning Company. Together they set out on their biggest job ever – to clean the 677 windows (not counting the greenhouse) of the house belonging to the Duke of Hampshire. There, they run into a very slippery villain indeed.

Little Angel productions are renowned for their use of puppets, which in this show will bring the characters of Billy, Giraffe, Pelly and Monkey to life. Designed and directed by Peter O’Rourke, with music and lyrics by Ben Glasstone, The Giraffe And The Pelly And Me is created by the team behind previous Little Angel productions Fantastic Mr Fox (also a Roald Dahl adaptation) and The Mouse Queen.

Writer Dahl, who died in 1990, remains one of the UK’s best-loved children’s authors. His many books include Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, James And The Giant Peach, The Twits, Matilda, Danny Champion Of The World and The BFG. Many of his stories have been adapted for the stage.

Little Angel’s production of The Giraffe And The Pelly And Me is suitable for theatregoers aged three and over and their families, though some baby-friendly performances will also be held.
