In our profile series, Tell Us In Ten, we ask cast members and creatives of top London shows to tell us all about themselves in just 10 questions. From how they got their start in the industry to their favourite shows, we want to know everything.
This time, the spotlight is on Seamus Dillane who is continuing his role as Septimus Hodge for the West End transfer of The Old Vic production of Arcadia by Tom Stoppard – performances begin 20 June.
1) My route into theatre was…
Slow and careful.
2) My West End idol is…
Michelle and Tania Wade from Maison Bertaux: The Queens of Soho.
3) My colleagues would describe me as…
Definitely someone who struggles with questions like these.
4) My favourite show (that isn’t one I star in/work on) is…
This is a hard question to answer. There are many that have stayed with me for different reasons at different moments of my life.
Child by Peeping Tom; Slave Play by Jeremy O’ Harris is coming to mind; Slavas Snow Show from when I was little; Alexander Zeldin’s last two shows have stuck; Gare St Lazare’s Beckett Trilogy; Another Life at the National.

5) The career moment I’m most proud of is…
The moment after I get the first line out, on any job I’ve ever done.
6) The hardest part about my job/role is…
To maintain healthy relationships with myself and all those involved in my life.
7) If I wasn’t an actor, I would be…
Someone else entirely. In a kitchen over a hob with paint on my hands in a pair of football boots.

8) Something people don’t know about me is…
A secret worth keeping.
9) The best piece of advice I’ve ever been given is…
“When in doubt, go to your room.”
10) The one thing I wish I could tell my younger self is…
“You don’t want homework yet.”
