In our profile series, Tell Us In 10, we ask cast members and creatives of top London shows to tell us all about themselves in just 10 questions. And because we’ve got some super shows in Kids Week 2021, we’re going to be giving you the chance to learn more about the people behind them in a special Kids Week Tell Us In 10 series.

In today’s Tell Us In 10, we’re talking to Sam and Mark from Sam & Mark’s On The Road Show, playing at the Underbelly Festival at Cavendish Square until 14 August.

Children’s TV royalty Sam and Mark, as seen on CBBC’s Big Friday Wind Up, Copycats and Crackerjack are delighted to be joining the hotly anticipated line up at Underbelly Festival 2021.

Find out more about Sam and Mark and this brilliant Kids Week show…

1. My role is…

Sam: TV presenter, actor and entertainer

Mark: TV presenter, actor and entertainer

2. My favourite thing about my roles are…

Sam: Seeing people laugh in the audience and have a good time.

Mark: Making people laugh. It really is a lovely feeling making people happy and something I want to do for the rest of my life.

3. My least favourite thing about my role is…

Sam: Being away from home sometimes as I miss my family but I really can’t complain. I get to be home a lot too.

Mark: Learning script is really tricky for me so rehearsal isn’t my favourite part. However it is probably the most important as Sam and I like our shows to look chaotic but it’s been rehearsed to the point where we know what we are doing and what’s next….usually anyway.

4. The show is perfect for families to enjoy this summer because…

Sam: It can be enjoyed by all ages. I hope it’s the type of show that the whole family talk about on the car journey home.

Mark: Kids will enjoy the physical comedy and silly dances and hopefully the adults will enjoy the fact they get to be involved on stage too. We love being interactive with our audience as they make the show.

5. I think Kids Week is a great initiative because…

Sam: Anything that gets kids interested in something and excited is a great thing.

Mark: Because the wonder of a live show should be experienced by everyone especially youngsters.

6. My earliest memories of theatre are…

Sam: Panto. We used to go as a family on boxing day.

Mark: When I was 7 years old I went to see the Panto at the grand theatre in Wolverhampton and I was blown away by how beautiful it was and how cool the sets were.

7. I always knew/didn’t know I wanted to work in theatre…

Sam: I always performed a lot as a kid and took part in pantos at school and was in a band so I always knew I enjoyed performing but didn’t think it would end up being my job.

Mark: I knew I wanted to work in the entertainment industry but didn’t know in which part. Only now I’m a bit older have I got the acting and performing bug on stage and it’s something I can’t live without.

8. The one thing I wish I could tell my younger self is…

Sam: Not to worry as much. Things always work out.

Mark: Work hard and try not to put too much pressure on yourself…. you are going to be ok.

9. In my spare time I like to…

Sam: Cook and grow my own fruit and vegetables

Mark: Watch football, play with my children and walk the dog.

10. If I could have a superpower for a day, I would choose…

Sam: I would want to be able to click my fingers and be anywhere in the world. It would save so much time!

Mark: The ability to fly is an oldie but a goodie. Being able to travel anywhere without having to wait…glorious.
