In our profile series, Tell Us In 10, we ask cast members and creatives of top London shows to tell us all about themselves in just 10 questions. In today’s Tell Us In 10, we’re talking to Emma Mullen who plays Sophie in Mamma Mia! playing at the Novello Theatre.

The hit musical, which premiered in the West End more than two decades ago, continues to offer audiences all the feel-good vibes as it follows the hilarious and heartwarming story of a young woman named Sophie and her mother who find themselves re-living past events on the eve of the daughter’s wedding. Packed with iconic numbers from ABBA including Dancing Queen, Money Money Money and Take A Chance On Me, the all-singing, all-dancing show promises laughter, tears, love and romance!

If you’re looking to beat the summer holiday-blues, read on to find out why this show is perfect for families…

1. My role is…

Sophie Sheridan

2. My favourite thing about my role is…

Being able to sing ABBA songs every night and call it my job. It’s just such an amazing job, and I feel so fortunate every day.

3. My least favourite thing about my role is…

It’s really hard to think of my least favourite thing, there really isn’t anything that I dislike about my job. If I were to say anything, it would probably just be the anxiety that has come along with this past year and what we’re all going through as an industry. I’m looking forward to a time when daily testing and rehearsing in masks and gloves is a thing of the past!

4. The show is perfect for families because…

It’s feel good, the whole family can enjoy it and it feels like a little get away to Greece for 2 and a half hours!

5. Something people don’t know about me is…

I was born on the 29th of February, making me a leap year baby. So I’m actually only 6 and a quarter years old.

6. My earliest memories of theatre are…

Seeing Cats at what was then the New London Theatre, and then watching the video at home non stop afterwards. I was a bit obsessed with the magic of it all.

7. I always knew/didn’t know I wanted to work in theatre…

I knew probably from about around age 12/13, which is quite young to be so set on something. But I was determined and here I am doing what I always wanted to do!

8. The one thing I wish I could tell my younger self is…

Don’t take yourself too seriously.

9. In my spare time I like to…

Go on holiday, preferably somewhere very sunny.

10. If I could have a superpower for a day, I would choose…

I’d love to be able to time travel, I just think that’d be the coolest thing.
