In our profile series, Tell Us In 10, we ask cast members and creatives of top London shows to tell us all about themselves in just 10 questions. From how their castmates would describe them and alternative careers, to their Theatreland idols, we want to know it all!

This week, we hear from Paul Zerdin, who will be playing Simon Trot in Jack And The Beanstalk.

Find out more about Paul and his career so far below:

1. My route into theatre was…

Bakerloo line to Oxford Circus! Ha! I’ve been gigging since I was 16 in Comedy Clubs, Summer Seasons, etc. Did my first Pantomime in 1993 which was the first time I’d worked in a proper theatre.

2. My West End idol is…

Michael Crawford. He made the leap from TV comedy to serious Musical Star in the West End and Broadway and then to Vegas.

3. My colleagues would describe me as…

Immature. A laugh to work with (hopefully!)

4. My favourite show present or past (that isn’t one I star in) is…

The Phantom of the Opera

5. The career moment I’m most proud of is…

My residency at Planet Hollywood, Las Vegas

6. The hardest part about my role is…

Having to learn the tongue twisters they give me as a ventriloquist in the scripts for the Palladium Pantomimes!

7. If I didn’t work in theatre I would be…

A Ventriloquist!

8. Something people don’t know about me is…

I love cooking! Would love to be on one of those cookery programmes. My dream is to be a guest on James Martin.

9. The best piece of advice I’ve ever been given is…

Don’t worry about what you can’t control.

10. The one thing I wish I could tell my younger self is…

Enjoy every moment and don’t let your career take over your life!
