The Smeds And The Smoos is the latest picture book from the creators of The Gruffalo, Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. It was announced today that award-winning theatre company Tall Stories will be bringing the book to life on stage in Spring 2021.

Originally scheduled for Autumn 2020 and postponed due to the pandemic, this brilliant story tells the story of two rival groups of aliens living on a far-off planet: the Smeds (who are red) and the Smoos (who are blue). The two groups mistrust each other and the children are told to never mix. So when a young Smed and Smoo fall in love and zoom off into space together, how will their families get them back?

At a time when so many young people feel isolated and cut off from each other, Tall Stories are proud to be working on a production that focuses on unity and understanding.

It will receive its world premiere at the Rose Theatre in Kingston-upon-Thames in Spring 2021, followed by a major UK tour and a run at the 2021 Edinburgh Fringe and will be created in Tall Stories’ signature physical storytelling style with original music and songs and plenty of laughs!
