Tall Stories’ acclaimed productions of The Snail And The Whale and The Snow Dragon are among the much-loved children’s tales set to entertain families as part of Jackson’s Lane’s 40th anniversary season this autumn.
Following the recent summer run of fellow Tall Stories hit The Gruffalo, the company will return with The Snail And The Whale, Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s popular story about a very tiny mollusc and a rather large mammal, from 5 December to 3 January.
Suitable for children aged four-years-old and older, the show takes audiences on a journey past icebergs and volcanoes, sharks and penguins, until the whale becomes beached and it’s up to the snail to save the day.
While young theatregoers have a month to catch the story of the little and large creatures, there will be just two performances of The Snow Dragon on 29 November. Suitable for children aged three-years-old and older, the show sees young goat Billy get excited about the arrival of a gift-bearing mythical monster.
The Tall Stories hits are joined by additional theatrical treats set to delight young audiences as the church-based venue celebrates four decades of vibrant and eclectic work.
The Little Angel Theatre’s production of We’re Going On A Bear Hunt, which is suitable for ages two and older, will play on 10 and 11 October, charting Michael Rosen’s story of a family on an expedition of a lifetime.
Jojo & Billie’s Tour De France (4 October) is suitable for children aged three to 11-years-old and uses music, video, mime, and many many bicycles to reveal what happens when a French boy and an English girl crash into each other on their bikes.
A brand new production from Long Nose Puppets, Flyaway Katie (18 October), brings Polly Dunbar’s popular book to the stage with colour, movement and puppetry for ages two to seven-years-old.
Completing the family-friendly line-up is Handa’s Surprise (26 to 30 October), which invites youngsters aged two to six-years-old to share in a magical tangerine surprise as Handa journeys to see her best friend with a handful of delicious fruits.
