Stick Man, the woody creation of Waterstone’s Children’s Laureate Julia Donaldson, will spend his Christmas escaping from danger at Leicester Square theatre.

The herbaceous hero will entertain children and adults with his incredible escapades in Stick Man – Live On Stage from 22 November 2011 to 8 January 2012.

First published in 2008, Stick Man tells of the eponymous bark-covered boy who, while out jogging, is mistaken for an ordinary stick, pounced on by a playful dog and thrown into a world where he is constantly mistaken for other woody implements as he tries valiantly to return to his Stick Lady Love and their three stick children.

Speaking about the production, Donaldson, whose other books include The Gruffalo and Room On The Broom, commented that production company Scamp “send shivers down my spine. They are so lively and innovative. I love their production of Stick Man – Live On Stage! – and so do the audiences.”
