Scrooge The Musical will return to the London Palladium this Christmas with Tommy Steele once again taking on the starring role.
Steele, who originated the role in the West End in 2005, will play the famous miser from 24 October (press night 6 November) for a strictly limited festive run.
Based on Charles Dickens’ famous novel A Christmas Carol, which tells the story of a miserable business man who finds redemption after being visited by three spirits on Christmas Eve, Scrooge The Musical is based on the 1970 film and features Leslie Bricusse’s Oscar nominated song Thank You Very Much.
Directed by Bob Tomson, the family treat also includes illusions by Paul Kieve, the magician acclaimed for his work on the Harry Potter films as well as stage shows The Lord Of The Rings and Ghost The Musical.
The production marks a record-breaking moment for Steele, whose return to the London Palladium will mean he has headlined more performances than any other star in the history of the legendary venue, including performances in Dick Whittington, The Tommy Steele Show and Singin’ In The Rain.
The performer, who has been in the entertainment industry for more than 55 years, also boasts over 20 hits singles, appearances in films including The Happiest Millionaire and Finian’s Rainbow and West End performances in Half A Sixpence and Hans Andersen.
Scrooge The Musical will fill the festive gap between the closure of The Wizard Of Oz on 2 September and the opening of brand new musical Charlie And The Chocolate Factory in June 2013.
