Peter Pan

Peter Pan flies into the National Theatre!

Sophie Thompson withdraws from Peter Pan

Sophie Thompson has had to withdraw from the cast of Peter Pan due to a broken wrist, the National Theatre has today announced.

The South Bank venue’s Christmas show, which has already received a sell-out, critically acclaimed run at Bristol Old Vic Theatre, will instead see Anna Francolini (wonder.land) take over the role of Captain Hook/Mrs Darling.

Director Sally Cookson brings her brilliantly inventive and riotous interpretation of J M Barrie’s tale of the leader of the Lost Boys, Peter Pan, to London for the festive season. When the flying boy loses his shadow, Wendy helps him re-attached it, in return receiving an invitation to Neverland, where Tinker Bell the fairy, Tiger Lily and the vengeful Captain Hook await.

Exploring the possibilities and pain of growing up, Peter Pan opens at the Olivier Theatre on Wednesday 16 November and plays until 4 February 2017.

The show’s cast also includes Saikat Ahamed, Suzanne Ahmet, Marc Antolin, Lois Chimimba, Laura Cubitt, Phoebe Fildes, Felix Hayes, Paul Hilton, John Leader, Amaka Okafor, John Pfumojena, Jessica Temple, Dan Wheeler and Madeleine Worrall.
