Soho show goes to Parliament

Published 22 February 2012

A hit at Soho theatre last autumn, political drama A Walk On Part is to be performed for MPs at the House Of Commons.

The one-off performance of the play, which is based on the diaries of former MP Chris Mullin, will entertain political audiences on 28 February, in an evening hosted by the Speaker of the House and Mullin.

The drama, which returns to Soho theatre this spring between 21 March and 14 April, offers audiences the chance to peek into politics over the last, turbulent decade from the point of view of Mullin. His witty, irreverent observations, adapted for the stage by playwright Michael Chaplin, straddle three worlds; Westminster life, Africa, where he toured as an MP, and the local community he served.

The production stars John Hodgkinson as Mullin, with Noma Dumezweni, Tracy Gillman, Hywell Morgan and Howard Ward as a host of characters including Tony Blair, Gordon Brown and John Prescott.
