Soetaert and McDowall make Chicago returns

Published 16 December 2011

Chicago veterans Sarah Soetaert and Rachel McDowall will pull on the West End’s most famous fishnets once more at the turn of the year.

The incoming actresses will replace America Ferrera and Amra-Faye Wright in the long-running musical hit from 2 January. Another Chicago regular, Terence Maynard, will step into the sharp suits of lawyer Billy Flynn one week earlier, replacing Darius Campbell from 26 December.

The cast change is the first to come in Chicago’s new home at the Garrick theatre, where it opened on 7 November, having closed at previous home the Cambridge theatre on 27 August to make way for Matilda The Musical.

Chicago, which originally opened at the Adelphi theatre in 1997, tells the story of murderous showgirls Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly, who turn their infamy to their own advantage with the help of a distinctly untrustworthy lawyer.
