Sleeping Beauty, Hackney Empire

Published 5 December 2016

The creative team at Hackney Empire, who long ago cracked the secret to the perfect panto, returns with another helping of festive joy and this time they’ve put their unique spin on Sleeping Beauty.

Audiences are transported to the enchanted land of Hackneytopia, a kingdom that’s bursting with fairies, unicorns and dragons. Heading up the cast is the joyous Alexia Khadime as Princess Tahlia and Olivier Award winner Sharon D Clarke who tears the house down as Carabosse the Dark Fairy, while Gavin Spokes plays Dame Nanny Nora, a nurse with plenty of love to give.

Heartfelt, funny and with some occasional bite, Sleeping Beauty is another triumph for the Hackney Empire. Ahead of the show’s opening night, we spoke to Alexia about all things Panto.

Sleeping Beauty runs until 8 January 2017.
