Sweet news for Waitress fans, as it was announced today that Sara Bareilles will reunite with her Broadway partner Gavin Creel in the West End production of Waitress for a strictly limited six-week run from 27 January 2020.

Lucie Jones and David Hunter will return to the roles of Jenna and Dr Pomatter from 9 March. David Hunter has said on Twitter that he looks forward to a break and spending some time with his family while swung out of the cast, while Lucie Jones has tweeted an infuriating teaser that she’ll soon announce how she’s spending her six-week pie break.

Sara Bareilles is the international bestselling artist who wrote the original music and lyrics for Waitress. Having played the lead role on Broadway in 2017, Sara now makes her West End debut as Jenna.

Sara’s also recently released a new album, 12 years on from her first no.1 hit Love Song took the world by storm. Her first original album since 2013, this new work is called Amidst The Chaos.

She will be reunited with Olivier and Tony Award-winning actor Gavin Creel, who played Dr Pomatter opposite Sara in the Broadway production. Gavin’s Tony comes from his performance as Cornelius Hackl in Hello, Dolly! with Bette Midler and David Hyde Pierce, but he has several more nominations.

He’s perhaps most famous this side of the pond for originating the role of Elder Price in the West End production of The Book of Mormon, a performance that won him the Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical. He also starred as Bert in Disney’s Mary Poppins and reprised his performance as Claude in Hair.

The pair will star opposite each other on stage at the Adelphi Theatre for a limited six-week run until 7 March.

Tickets are sure to fly for this iconic duo’s all-too-brief reunion so be sure to grab yours while they last!
