Samuel Buttery stars in Lyric’s Cinderella

Published 6 November 2015

The Voice UK star Samuel Buttery will play Buttons in the Lyric Hammersmith’s annual festive pantomime, which comes in the form of Cinderella for 2016.

The former talent show contestant, who wowed The Voice’s chair-spinning judges in 2012, will play the supportive companion of Krystal Dockery’s Cinderella from 21 November to 3 January.

Olivier Award winner Sara Crowe, who won the prestigious prize in 1991 for her performance in Private Lives, will join the pair as Madame Woo alongside One Man, Two Guvnors’ Peter Caulfield and Matt Sutton (Jumpers For Goalposts, Bush Theatre) as what we expect to be something of a comedy double act comprising Booty and Licious.

Debra Michaels will cast her magic over her fellow performers as the Fairy Godmother, while Karl Queensborough will follow his current role in the Tricycle Theatre’s A Wolf In Snakeskin Shoes to step into the shoes of Prince Charming.

Poppy Almond, Claudia Archer, Oliver Byng, Eboni Dixon, Amelia Grant and Nathaniel Wade complete the cast as members of the young ensemble.

Following Wells’ previous success with Jack And The Beanstalk and Dick Whittington And His Cat at the venue, this year audiences are invited to grab their glittery Converse and put their pumpkins into top gear for another traditional panto that promises plenty of festive fun in true Lyric style.

Cinderella plays as part of an exciting Christmas season for families that also includes Pins And Needles Productions’ much-loved take on Raymond Briggs’ Father Christmas, which returns for another year in the Lyric Studio.
