British actress and comedian Lizzie Roper is to replace Ellen Greene in new musical Betwixt! at Trafalgar Studio 2 from 22 August.

The comic fantasy musical, which had been due to end its run on 20 August, recently extended to 10 September. Roper will take on Greene’s trio of roles – the Enchantress, the Princess and the Nymph Queen – until the end of the run.

Edinburgh Festival regular Roper has previously been seen on stage in London in One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest at the Gielgud theatre and August: Osage County at the National Theatre as well as her one-woman shows Peccadillo Circus and Through My Keyhole. She has numerous television credits in programmes including Coronation Street, Silent Witness, Being Human and Plus One.

Written and directed by Ian McFarlane, Betwixt! centres on New York flatmates Bailey and Cooper, who are catapulted into a strange enchanted world where they must search out a fading daytime TV star and save a pregnant princess from losing the throne.

The show, which opened at Trafalgar Studio 2 on 28 July, also stars Benedict Salter, Steven Webb, Ashleigh Gray and Peter Duncan.
