The Royal Opera House’s annual Sounding Out returns for May half term, offering children aged seven and over and their families another chance to take part in a range of creative activities at the famous venue.
The event kicks off on 30 May with a free open day from 12:00 to 16:00 in the Paul Hamlyn Hall at the Royal Opera House. Families can participate in singing, dancing activities, try on costumes or create a puppet. Food is available from a BBQ on the terrace.
Sounding Out continues with a series of ticketed workshops throughout the week of 31 May to 4 June, in which children and their families can learn to sing, dance and make music with the help of Royal Opera House professionals.
Participants can learn how to create a costume for an opera or ballet; write their own libretto; compose a piece of music from scratch; explore the ballet Swan Lake in a dance workshop; make a silent film; or help artists of the Royal Opera House create a brand new work.

All children visiting the open day or participating in the workshops must be accompanied by an adult.
