It takes a star duo to tell a Nobel Prize-winning story. So fans of Boris Pasternak’s renowned novel Doctor Zhivago will be happy to learn that Ramin Karimloo and Celinde Schoenmaker – both former Phantom Of The Opera stars – will play the lead characters in Doctor Zhivago – The UK Concert Première.

The show is coming to London’s Cadogan Hall on Sunday 1 September playing two performances: at 2pm and 6.30pm. It tells an epic story of the search for love during the final days of Czarist Russia, with heart-break guaranteed.

Ramin, whose credits also include Les Misérables in the West End and Broadway, and Love Never Dies, will portray Yurii Andreyevich Zhivago himself. Celinde, who has recently starred as Christine in Phantom and in Les Mis in the West End, will play the mysterious Lara Guishar.

The show centres on Zhivago, a political idealist, physician, poet and aristocrat who finds himself torn between his a life with his close childhood friend, and the passionate Lara. But the tides of history soon turn against himself, and he finds himself competing with both revolutionaries and aristocracy alike to win the heart of the woman he cannot live without.

Doctor Zhivago – The UK Concert Première is written by Academy Award nominee Michael Weller, with music by Tony nominee Lucy Simon. This is the show’s first appearance as a UK concert, and is produced by Lambert Jackson Productions.

Lambert Jackson today said “The story of ‘Doctor Zhivago’ is such a timeless classic and it is even more stunning in musical form. It’s a beautiful piece of writing and to be able to present the UK concert première of this show is an absolute honour. We are also thrilled to be working with the extraordinary Ramin Karimloo and divine Celinde Schoenmaker to bring this beautiful music to life.”

Tickets are available through the Cadogan Hall website.
