Pop star Hamilton makes Blood Brothers debut

Former Atomic Kitten singer Natasha Hamilton is to make her West End stage debut in 2011, when she joins the cast of long-running musical Blood Brothers to play the leading role of Mrs Johnstone.

The Scouse chanteuse will take to the Phoenix theatre stage from 24 January, starring in Willy Russell’s tale of separated Liverpudlian twins living separate but linked lives until 30 July.

As part of girl band Atomic Kitten, Hamilton scored chart success with singles including Whole Again, Eternal Flame and The Tide Is High, selling more than 12 million records worldwide. Now a mother of three, Hamilton is due to release her debut solo album.

Hamilton joins a long list of actresses and singers who have played the iconic role of Mrs Johnstone, including Barbara Dickson, Kiki Dee, Lyn Paul, Siobhan McCarthy, Mel C and Linda, Bernie, Denise and Maureen Nolan.
