Pilkington joins Daly in Master Class

Dianne Pilkington will star opposite Tyne Daly in the forthcoming West End transfer of Broadway’s recent hit Master Class.

The pair will be joined by young opera star Naomi O’Connell, Gerard Carey (The Invisible Man, Spamalot), opera singer Garrett Sorenson and Jeremy Cohen, who makes his West End debut reprising his role from the production’s Broadway run.

Terrence McNally’s award-winning play invites the audience to one of Callas’s famous master classes where, late in her career, she dares the next generation to make the same sacrifices and rise to the same heights that made her the most celebrated and the most controversial singer of her time.

Pilkington will play Sophie De Palma. The actress was most recently seen on the London stage in long-runner The 39 Steps but is arguably best known for her three year stint in musical Wicked. Her other stage credits include Chichester Festival Theatre’s She Loves Me and Cats and Beauty And The Beast on tour.

Master Class plays the Vaudeville theatre from 21 January (press night 7 February) until 28 April and is directed by Stephen Wadsworth.
