Paying It Forward thanks to Come From Away

Each September, the producers of the Olivier Award-winning musical Come From Away set aside some money and time to go out into the world and do good deeds with a ‘Pay It Forward’ initiative. The global initiative aims to spread kindness as a way to honour the Newfoundlanders who inspired the production’s heartwarming true story, and was started by the real life Kevin T – a real-life ‘Come From Away’ who features in the show itself.

This year, to mark the 20th Anniversary of 9/11, Come From Away have donated £100 to various industry members and asked them to pay it forward in whatever way they wish.

As a not-for-profit, we will be using our donation from Come From Away to support theatre education charity, Mousetrap Theatre Projects’ Go Live Fortnight initiative. Running from 27 September – 10 October, the initiative allows young people, who may not have had the opportunity to attend the theatre before, the chance to enjoy the magic of London’s world-renowned shows by offering tickets at subsidised prices.

Using the donation from Come From Away, we will be sending 10 young people to a show in Go Live Fortnight. The ten lucky recipients will be chosen from the Mousetrap Theatre Projects Family First Nights programme which helps disadvantaged families to attend the theatre.

Family First Nights is one of the Mousetrap’s Theatre Project’s largest and longest-running programmes and since it’s launch over 20 years ago, has allowed over 12,000 families to visit theatre, many for the first time.

The charity is funded by not-for-profit organisation The Society of London Theatre (who run Official London Theatre) – so whenever you buy a ticket from us on this website, a portion is going back into the industry and into making theatre as accessible as possible for all.

We’re honoured to support Come From Away’s Pay It Forward initiative and encourage our theatre fans to spread their own acts of kindness to honour those lost and commemorate what was found in Gander. Make sure to tag @ComeFromAwayUK and #PayItForward911 in your posts and Come From Away will re-share their favourites.
