Our trip to the opening of Les Misérables – The Staged Concert

Yesterday night, the iconic Les Misérables – The Staged Concert returned to the Sondheim Theatre for its first performance as theatre returns #BackOnStage and it did not disappoint!

Kayley and Ruth from our Official London Theatre team went along to experience the spectacular production and took us along for the ride!

Set during the revolution, this international award-winning musical has passion, fear, hope, love and some absolute tunes. Based on Victor Hugo’s immortal novel, the show features iconic music from Claude-Michel Schönberg, including, I Dreamed A Dream, On My Own, Do You Hear The People Sing? and the ultimate tear-jerker, Bring Him Home.

Having interviewed Lucie Jones (who plays Fontaine) in Theatre Chat Live earlier in the week, Kayley knew how excited the cast were to be #BackOnStage performing for audiences and just how special the experience was going to be. And during the interval both Kayley and Ruth confirmed exactly that with Kayley saying “It has been very emosh being back and a bit overwhelming in the very best way” while Ruth is unsure “she will survive the second act.”

And the curtain call proved that the rest of the audience members agreed!

Summing up their feelings at the end of the show, Kayley said “It is such an intricate story – It is a classic for a reason” while Ruth says “We’ve been listening to music on our Bluetooth speakers for the last couple of months, but you forget how good it is seeing something live.”
