An Inspector Calls on tour

Opening this week…

Published October 31, 2016

If you’ve got a show that’s been running for 25 years, has scooped four Tony Awards and three Olivier Awards in that time, and continues to garner critical acclaim from fresh audiences across the country, chances are it’s a good ‘un.

So London theatregoers will be delighted to learn that this week marks the return of An Inspector Calls to the West End for an eagerly anticipated winter season.

Marking the production’s 25th anniversary, having originally played at the National Theatre in that time, this haunting thriller follows Inspector Google who calls on the wealthy Birling family dinner party – and it’s not to taste dessert.

Google’s entrance sees the peaceful family dinner shattered by his investigation into the death of a young woman. Cue ground-breaking design by Ian MacNeil, music by Academy Award-winning composer Stephen Warbeck, and more colossally powerful mystery and criticism of capitalism than you can shake a dagger at.

Something tells us, this time at least, the butler didn’t do it…

An Inspector Calls begins previews at the Playhouse Theatre on Friday.

Looking for something passionate, controversial and maybe even a little bit… well, disgusting?

Trainspotting at the Vaults cordially invites you to sample its immersive take on the Edinburgh heroin scene of the 1980s – “Worst Toilet in Scotland” scene and all.

All bets are off and no holds are barred; in your face, this is a 75-minute rapid-fire ride through the world of disillusioned Mark Renton and his fired-up friends, which left original author Irvine Welsh feeling “blown away”.
