Omigod! Fleeshman joins Legally Blonde

Former Coronation Street star and winner of ITV’s celebrity singing contest Soapstar Superstar, Richard Fleeshman will join the cast of hit London show Legally Blonde The Musical next month.

Fleeshman will replace current star Duncan James in the role of Warner Huntington III from 16 June. Current cast members Jill Halfpenny, Peter Davison, Alex Gaumond and leading lady Sheridan Smith are all continuing in the show, which is currently booking until 20 February 2011.

Legally Blonde The Musical, which opened at the Savoy theatre earlier this year, tells the story of homecoming queen Elle Woods (Smith), who doesn’t take no for an answer. When her boyfriend Warner (Fleeshman) dumps her for someone serious, Elle ditches her credit cards in favour of books and heads to Harvard Law, proving along the way that being true to yourself never goes out of style.

Fleeshman spent four years in popular soap opera Coronation Street, playing Craig Harris, leaving the show in 2006. He returned to TV screens in 2009, playing autistic musician Kyle Caddick in BBC drama All The Small Things. Away from the screen, he was signed to Universal records in 2007, with whom he recorded his debut album Neon. He also supported Elton John on his Summer Stadium and Red Piano tours.

Musical fans yet to see Legally Blonde The Musical will get a free taste of the show on the weekend of 19 and 20 June, when the show takes part in the free entertainment festival West End LIVE in London’s Leicester Square.
