First Published 2 March 2015, Last Updated 13 March 2015

What’s it all about?

Thriller Live is all about the moonwalking, white glove-wearing and hit-making of one of the most legendary entertainers of all time. A visual and audible feast for Michael Jackson fans, the show has been bringing MJ’s incredible back catalogue of hits to West End audiences for more than six years. From the early songs he performed as one fifth of The Jackson Five to his solo smash-hits, Thriller Live gives life to all of the best Jacko tunes including I Want You Back, I’ll Be There, Dirty Diana, Smooth Criminal, Earth Song and Blame It On The Boogie.

Casting coup

During the seven years that this hugely popular tribute musical has been in London, it has welcomed to its stage some of best singing talent found on Britain’s TV talent shows. They include Zoe Birkett, who at the age of 16 finished fourth behind Will Young, Gareth Gates and Darius Danesh in the first ever series of Pop Idol, X Factor finalists Maria Lawson and Rachel Adedeji, and current cast member Cleo Higgins, who appeared on the 2013 series of The Voice UK.

Even X Factor winner Joe McElderry took to the Lyric Theatre’s stage in 2012, when he made a guest appearance alongside girl group Stooshe and Grammy Award-winning musician Macy Gray during a special curtain call as part of BBC’s Children In Need’s POP Goes The Musical

Fascinating fact

On the night of the Olivier Awards with MasterCard, Sunday 12 April, Thriller Live will overtake Oliver! to become the 18th longest running musical in West End history. Coincidence or fate? What better way to celebrate than being crowned the winner of the This Morning Audience Award. Thriller Live fans, get voting!

Olivier Awards history

The Jackson tribute concert may be the longest running show in the Lyric Theatre’s 125-year history, but the production is yet to assert its presence in the Audience Award shortlist. Could 2015 be the year the show walks away with one of London theatre’s most prestigious accolades for the first time?

They say…

“It’s amazing for us to be involved. Like all the other shows, we’ve got people who come and see the show over and over and over again. They give us a lot of good energy. It feels fantastic.” Thriller Live’s Britt Quentin

We say…

No one will ever live up to the King of Pop’s world-conquering talent, but Thriller Live is the next best thing. When it comes to breathing life into his incredible music and trademark dance routines, you really can’t Beat It!
