Now Or Later gets election extension

First Published 18 September 2008, Last Updated 18 September 2008

Political drama Now Or Later, which sets its plot on the night of the American Presidential election, has extended its run at the Royal Court until 1 November, three days before America actually goes to the polls.

Christopher Shinn’s drama opened just last week at the new writing venue, but received such strong reviews and interest from the public that an extra two weeks have been added to the show’s run, which was originally scheduled to end on 18 October.

Now Or Later features Matthew Marsh as the President-elect, who waits for the results surrounded by his family and advisors. Everything has been carefully choreographed to ensure there are no surprises. But while everyone lingers with anticipation, images of the President-elect’s son, John Jr, are gathering pace on the internet.

Shinn’s piece examining religion, freedom of expression and personal responsibility stars Eddie Redmayne in the lead role of John Jr, alongside Marsh, Nancy Crane, Domhnall Gleeson, Adam James and Pamela Nomvete.

Now Or Later is followed at the Royal Court by Tarell Alvin McCraney’s drag club-set drama Wig Out! which opens on 28 November.
