New shows added to Tricycle season

Published 5 February 2015

The Tricycle Theatre will present two new shows – Mozart’s Don Giovanni and a new production of Come In! Sit Down! by The MUJU Crew – in addition to its previously announced spring season.

“Re-imagined as you’ve never seen it before”, The Darling Music Experience’s take on the classic opera Don Giovanni will play at the Kilburn venue from 6 to 11 July.

Featuring storytelling in modern English/Afrikaan alongside opera performed in the original language, the infamous tale about a philandering womaniser, a string of scorned females and a loose-lipped servant has been adapted to the South Africa of today for Christiaan Olwagen’s production.

Award-winning Muslim and Jewish theatre company The MUJU Crew will return to the Tricycle Theatre, where the group formed more than a decade ago, from 27 July to 2 August with Come In! Sit Down!

The new production, which is directed by Salman Siddiqui and Joshua Azouz, invites audiences for a night of fun and laughter mixed with the company’s trademark cheeky dose of crucial conversations from home and abroad, and features songs from the Horrible Histories music team.

These newly announced shows will follow a season that includes the world premiere of John Hollingworth’s Multitudes, Samuel West’s production of April De Angelis’ deeply moving and blisteringly witty black comedy After Electra and Christopher Hampton’s new version of Florian Zeller’s The Father starring Kenneth Cranham.
