New record for West End Thriller

First Published 16 December 2015, Last Updated 18 December 2015

Michael Jackson musical Thriller Live will become the 17th longest running musical in West End history tonight when it plays its 2901st performance at the Lyric Theatre.

In doing so the tune-filled extravaganza will knock Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Evita down into 18th place in the all-time list.

Thriller Live first opened at London’s Lyric Theatre in January 2009, bringing the classic pop songs of Michael Jackson and The Jackson Five thrillingly to the London stage.

A constantly refreshing show – the latest incarnation, featuring a new opening, songs, costumes and effects, opened last month – Thriller Live has now played in 31 countries. Egypt will become the 32nd in 2016.

Speaking about hitting the new landmark, producers Paul Walden and Derek Nicol said: “Becoming the 17th Longest Running West End Musical of all time is yet another amazing milestone in the history of our show. Very few productions have ever run this long in the West End and we are grateful to the fans of Michael Jackson who have taken the show to their hearts.”

The record-breaking show is booking at the Lyric Theatre until September 2016. You can buy tickets for Thriller Live through us here.

It is also taking part in our winter discount promotion Get Into London Theatre. Get cut price tickets from performances between 1 January and 12 February by booking here.
