McCoy and Boydon give Jersey Boys birthday gift

Published 22 February 2010

Hit musical Jersey Boys will celebrate its second London birthday by unveiling two new cast members. From 18 March, John Boydon and Eugene McCoy will replace Glenn Carter and Philip Bullcock as Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi.

The newest members of the Four Seasons join Ryan Molloy and Stephen Ashfield, who continue in their roles as Frankie Valli and Bob Gaudio.

Both Boydon and McCoy have previously appeared in other long-running West End jukebox musicals, so should feel quite at home in Jersey Boys, which features the hit songs of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Boydon has recently finished a two year stint in Queen musical We Will Rock You, while McCoy’s credits include Abba musical Mamma Mia!

Jersey Boys uses their own music to tell the story of Valli and his Four Seasons’ bandmates, a tale of four blue-collar boys from the wrong side of the tracks who went on to sell 175 million records worldwide. Among the group’s most memorable hits are Sherry, Walk Like A Man, Big Girls Don’t Cry and December 1963 (Oh What A Night).

The musical, directed by Des McAnuff, opened at the Prince Edward theatre in 2008, going on to win the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Musical.
