The Screwtape Letters, playing at the Park Theatre

Max McLean to star in The Screwtape Letters

The European premiere of the wickedly funny theatrical adaptation of C.S. Lewis’ novel The Screwtape Letters will be led by original New York star Max McLean at the Park Theatre this winter.

Max will return to the role of the eponymous character, referred to in the show as His Abysmal Sublimity Screwtape, Satan’s top psychiatrist, to wage further spiritual warfare on humanity. Provocative and hilarious, the production will play in the most festive of seasons, Christmas, at the North London venue from 8 December – 7 January 2017.

Set in an eerily stylish office at the core of hell, the show follows Screwtape and his slave Toadpipe as they train an apprentice demon in the art of damning a human soul. With a dash of classic C.S. Lewis imagination, the story creates a morally inverted universe which illuminates spiritual powers and principalities in subversive, humorous ways.

Conceived and adapted by Max and writer Jeffrey Fiske, the show performed to sold-out audiences in New York City and across the U.S., and is now set to receive its European premiere in London. Tickets can be purchased from the venue’s website.
