Young people aged 17-30 considering a career in the arts can attend a series of free Masterclass sessions from 10-17 July as part of the Opening Doors season 2007.

Established by the Theatre Royal Haymarket in 1998, Masterclass organises a year-round programme of events related to all aspects of the theatre industry. The events in the Opening Doors season are vocational sessions led by a panel of theatre professionals, aiming to discuss and explain the practicalities of different jobs in the theatre industry.

This year’s season includes sessions aimed at those interested in acting, putting on a play, working in musical theatre, plus a workshop on promoting yourself as an actor. Producers David Pugh and Dafydd Rogers, director Thea Sharrock (Equus), Menier Chocolate Factory Artistic Director David Babani and actor Alexandra Silber (currently in Fiddler On The Roof) are among the professionals sitting on the panels.

Following the Opening Doors season, on 20 July Masterclass is hosting a one-off talk and Q&A session with Shameless actress Maxine Peake (seen on stage last year in On The Third Day).

Held at the Haymarket, the sessions are free, but those wishing to attend must apply for a ticket. More information and a booking form can be found at www.masterclass.org.uk
