Trevor Nunn’s critically acclaimed production of Fiddler On The Roof will be getting an injection of fresh blood as two new cast members have been announced! Maria Friedman and Anita Dobson will be making their way to Anatevka, starring from 18 June.

The hugely popular show is currently playing at the Playhouse Theatre where it received a three-month extension following rave reviews and a sold-out run at the Menier Chocolate Factory.

Maria Friedman will play Golde, taking over the role from Judy Kuhn. Maria is a three-time Olivier Award winner. She was catapulted to fame when she won her first Olivier for her performance in one-woman show Maria Friedman By Special Arrangement. She’s since starred in The Woman In White, Passion, Chicago and more on the West End.

Anita Dobson, meanwhile, will play Yente. Anita is best-known for playing Angie Watts in EastEnders, though she’s no stranger to the West End. In 2003, she was nominated for an Olivier Award for her performance in the play Frozen, and from 2016-2017 she appeared in Wicked.

Fiddler On The Roof is the story of Tevye and his daughters, who have each chosen a husband that isn’t as strictly Jewish as Tevye. While he learns to open his heart to new possibilities in his family life, his surrounding community faces a difficult challenge of their own.

It’s one of the most beloved musicals of all time and features an iconic numbers including Matchmaker, Matchmaker; Sunrise, Sunset; and If I Were A Rich Man. This production features original choreography from the Tony Award-winner Jerome Robbins, alongside new choreography by Matt Cole.

The legendary actors will be toasting to life and celebrating the miracles of miracles from 18 June.
