A six-month extension is the name of the game for Mamma Mia! as the hit musical based on the songs of ABBA has extended its booking period at the Novello Theatre until 23 April 2016.

The long-running London show, which recently celebrated its 16th anniversary in the West End, was previously booking until 24 October.

Set on a Greek island paradise, Mamma Mia! charts the story of bride-to-be Sophie as she sets out to discover who out of the three possible suspects she has invited to her wedding is her real father. To Sophie’s shock – and to her mother’s surprise – they all turn up, but which one will take her down the aisle?

Featuring many of the Swedish pop band’s greatest hits including Take A Chance, Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!, The Winner Takes It All and Thank You For The Music, the musical has been entertaining the capital’s audiences with its enchanting tale of family and friendship since its 1999 premiere at the Prince Edward Theatre.

Since then the ABBA-tastic hit has been seen by more than 54 million theatregoers in 49 productions across the globe and has celebrated more than 6,500 performances in London.

The London show currently stars Alice Stokoe and Dianne Pilkington as Sophie and Donna respectively alongside a cast including Kim Ismay, Rebecca Lock, Lloyd Green, Brodie McBride and Rosanna Bates.
