Children across the capital have the chance to experience the art of the puppeteer for free through a new touring marionette show from Little Angel theatre, which kicks off on 2 June.

Give Us A Hand! is a brand new show written by celebrated children’s author Michael Rosen (Mustard, Custard, Grumble Belly, Hairy Tales And Nursery Crimes and Gravy) and performed by puppeteer Ronnie Le Drew (who operates the much-loved Zippy from Rainbow). The story features over 40 original puppets from Little Angel’s 46-year history, including the Little Mermaid, Rapunzel and Angelo.

The show is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund as part of a year-long programme of work based around the heritage of the marionette and celebrating the centenary of John Wright, who co-founded the Little Angel Theatre in Islington in 1961. Give Us A Hand! is presented free of charge and hopes to attract 8,000 primary school children, their teachers and families as it tours to theatres and schools in 10 London boroughs this summer.

The tour starts on 2 June at Chat’s Palace in Hackney, continuing to 10 venues across London and finishing at the Tricycle on 14 July. In September Give Us A Hand! will have a season back at the Little Angel. For the full tour schedule visit www.littleangeltheatre.com
