Big news. Huge. Aimie Atkinson and Danny Mac will head up the Pretty Woman The Musical cast in the brand new West End production at the Piccadilly Theatre.

Aimie will play Vivian, the role made famous by a young Julia Roberts, and Danny Mac will play Edward, the rich businessman originally played by Richard Gere.

Aimie Atkinson has just finished her Olivier-Award nominated run as Katherine Howard, who she’s played in Six since it opened in the West End.

Her previous credits include Daniela in In the Heights at King’s Cross Theatre, Serena in Legally Blonde at Kilworth House and Chloe in Never Forget – The Take That Musical. She is also a past winner of the BBC Radio 2 Voice of Musical Theatre Award, judged by Elaine Paige and Michael Ball.

Danny Mac is currently starring as Bob Wallace, one of the two dashing musical veterans in White Christmas at the Dominion Theatre. His other recent credits include Joe Gillis in Sunset Boulevard and Nino in Amelie on national tours, as well as stints in Wicked and Legally Blonde on the West End.

He also starred as Gabey in the Olivier Award-nominated On The Town at The Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre in 2017. If you haven’t caught him in any of those and you’re still wondering why his face is familiar, you may recognise him from his four-year run as Dodger on Hollyoaks between 2011 and 2015!

Producer Paula Wagner said:

“After an extensive search, we have found our ideal Vivian and Edward! Their talent and undeniable charisma will take Pretty Woman: The Musical to new iconic heights.

“When I met Aimie, I was completely captivated by her wit, warmth and dynamic presence. Danny, has all the great qualities of a leading man and will make the perfect Edward. I can’t wait to see these two power-house talents together on stage”.

Director and Choreographer Jerry Mitchell said:

“When I first saw Aimie I knew I wanted to work with her. Her star quality, attack and voice in Six leapt off the stage. I have wanted to work with the very talented Danny Mac for ages. His voice is perfectly suited for Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance’s romantic score.

“Together, Aimie and Danny will make the West End production of Pretty Woman: The Musical sizzle, and with them we’ll all be falling in love again with Garry Marshall and JF Lawton’s romantic story”.

Pretty Woman The Musical opens at the Piccadilly Theatre from 13 February next year – of course, just in time for Valentines Day! It will play a strictly limited 46 week run until November, so there’s plenty of time to grab your tickets before it’s gone!
