La Soirée announces line-up for festive Roundhouse run

First Published 3 October 2011, Last Updated 3 October 2011

The line-up for the return of cult cabaret show La Soirée has been announced with tap-dancing on roller skates, hula-hooping and lycra-clad divas all featuring on the bill.

The Olivier Award-winning show returns to the Roundhouse this Christmas for a limited run from 23 November. After beginning life at the Edinburgh Festival, the troupe of weird and wonderful entertainers has performed together all over the world, picking up more eccentric performers along the way.

The Roundhouse run sees familiar La Soirée faces joined by new burlesque, circus and cabaret performers tackling everything from the ridiculous to the unbelievable.

There will be amazing physical feats from German acrobatic duo Chris-Iris, who take the phrase ‘little and large’ to the extreme, and Katherine Arnold and Hugo Desmarius will show off their aerial skills as they perform a sultry duet suspended above the audience in ‘The Cage’.

Yulia Pykhtina will be reinventing the art of hula-hooping, while Nate Cooper will give a jaw-dropping chaotic performance featuring machete juggling. Renowned roller skating duo The Skating Willers will make their final ever performances on stage before hanging up their skates at the end of the Roundhouse run.

La Soirée regular Le Gateau Chocolat, the opera-singing diva with a love of body-hugging lycra, will also be back with everyone’s favourite Freddie Mercury impersonator Mario, Queen Of The Circus.

La Soirée runs until 29 January with further acts to be announced during the run.
