Kids Week plans Open Air launch

First Published 16 July 2014, Last Updated 16 July 2014

Kids Week, our annual kids go free campaign, will get off to a spectacular start this year with a brilliant day of free family fun planned to launch the month of festivities at the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre.

Families can enter a ballot to secure free tickets to the Kids Week Family Launch, which will take place on 1 August from 11:00 to 14:30, when they’ll enjoy a day jam-packed with family-friendly activities and special events.

The lucky attendees will have the chance to watch Official London Theatre In Conversation sessions with award-winning writers Jacqueline Wilson and Judith Kerr, both of whom have seen their hugely popular children’s books adapted for the stage, including Wilson’s Hetty Feather and Kerr’s The Tiger Who Came To Tea.

Other events planned for the Kids Week Family Launch are a theatre tea party, where you’ll be able to meet characters from shows including Aliens Love Underpants and War Horse, a storytelling session with acclaimed children’s playwright David Wood, theatrical make-up demonstrations and the chance to quiz the hugely talented young performers from hit shows Billy Elliot The Musical and Matilda The Musical.

If that wasn’t enough, there’ll also be singing workshops with Starling Arts, games, prizes and much more.

For your chance to attend the event, visit the Kids Week website to enter the ballot by 17:00 on 21 July.

If you’re not lucky this time, you can still book tickets to dozens of participating Kids Week shows. There are also still a number of exclusive Kids Week activities available to book, including a Charleston workshop with Jeeves & Wooster In Perfect Nonsense and a soul music workshop with The Commitments.
